INT. CASTLE – COURT – NIGHT

Cale hovers over Krunch and Benny, who relax by a campfire. Well, try to relax. It’s hard to relax when your personal space is being invaded. 

CALE
So..?

BENNY
Yes?

CALE
Are we any closer to finding the Sword of Truth? 

KRUNCH
We are closer to throwing the note about it into this fire. 

BENNY
It’s a riddle about “The Shriek”. Nothing grinds an adventure to a halt like a riddle. 

RICHARD (off panel)
Go on in, little guy. 

CALE
Speaking of grind…

Cale peaks in on the next room. 

INT. CASTLE – PANTRY – NIGHT

Richard stands over a makeshift cage, coaxing a giant rat into it. 

RICHARD
In you go. Then you can rejoin your family. 

SOOBA (off panel)
Grrr…

Sooba stands poised for a pounce. Richard puts himself between the rat and Sooba. The rat scurries into the cage. 

RICHARD
Down, Sooba! 

Cale stealthily scoops up the rat in the cage and wanders off. 

INT. CASTLE – KITCHEN – NIGHT

Cale walks into the kitchen and immediately spots the cauldron. 

CALE
Perfect!

The caged rat set aside, Cale lights a fire under the cauldron. He turns and sneers at the rat. Something startles him. 

A transparent, immaterial young woman floats in place. 

CALE
Greetings?

The ghostly woman faces Cale and lets out a shriek that shakes the castle and blows Cale back.
