Friday Lart – Making A Murder Dog
Fridays, we open the Larchives, Lar’s extensive archive of art work oddities, and share a few pieces.
Richard loves a good pet. And Lar loves arting a good Richard pet, I assume.
On page 1641, we meet a sad chihuahua getting kicked by an instantly unlikeable safehouse guard. The script describes the dog like so:
The dog’s raggedy, three-legged, one-eyed, and drooling through missing teeth.
Murder Dog art order
Lar took that and made this:
I like to think that first one isn’t an abandoned sketch, it’s Lar seeing how few body parts the dog could have and still function.
In Need Of A Name
So who is this new pupper? As Richard points out on page 1643, we can’t call him Murdog, it sounds too much like merdog. I like the idea of calling him Murder Dog, but I don’t like the idea of the Google results we’d be paired with. So I defaulted to calling this new character Dog in the scripts, until a better name came to me.
Then a better name came to me! Not through any effort of my own, mind you. On the aforementioned page 1643, reader Maighdean Dubh posted the following comment:
A callback that’s fun to say and makes search engine optimization less uncomfortable? How can I pass that up?
Now I don’t know when this dog is going to show up next or how often. I also don’t know if we’ll name the dog the next time he does show up. So until the dog officially gets a name in the pages of LFG, feel free to think of him as Moider.
