GFL – Page 0032
Grouping For Looks is a page-by-page retelling of the Looking For Group saga through the lens of a mirror universe where Cale is a goateed tyrant and Richard is a holy soul trying to set him on a good path.
EXT. BATTLEFIELD – DAY
The battle continues, with gnomes and their warmachine contraptions on one side, the group and an army of trolls on the other. Just outside of the battlefield sits a carriage.
INT. CARRIAGE – DAY
A tall, goateed man with a real Batman vibe, HOLDER, and a slight, raspy voiced blonde woman, LYSA, sit together, engaged in an emotionally charged conversation.
HOLDER
I love you.
LYSA
You love me?
HOLDER
I love you.
EXT. BATTLEFIELD – DAY
Eyes red with rage, Benny punches a gnome square in the jaw.
HOLDER (Off Panel)
And not in a friendly way, although I think we’re great friends.
Riding a gnome’s face by swinging his hips with his legs scissor locked around the gnome’s gnose, Krunch jabs gnome after gnome in the eyes.
HOLDER (Off Panel)
And not in a misplaced affection, puppy-dog way, although I’m sure that’s what you’ll call it. And it’s not because you’re unattainable.
Side-by-side, Cale and Richard fight the incoming threat. Richard destroys the gnome machines with magic, while Cale destroys the drivers with his swords.
Blood rains down on the carriage windows.
HOLDER (Off Panel)
I love you. Very simple, very truly. You’re the epitome of every attribute and quality I’ve ever looked for in another person.
Richard, Cale, Benny, Krunch, and Sooba stand triumphant beside the trolls, bowing real low at Krunch’s feet.
HOLDER (Off Panel)
And even if we never speak again after tonight, please know that I’m forever changed because of you and what you’ve meant to me.
Chief Engineer Toyk’s mechagnome topples, flattening the carriage and crushing the people inside.
CALE
I’m surprised you didn’t save them.
RICHARD
To be honest, I didn’t get what they were doing here.
Richard clutches his pearls at the sight of Tim and Styx pointing in his direction.
BENNY
So, where do we go from here?
The group looks at you, the reader.
THE END?
