EXT. SHACK IN TOWN BORDERING KETHENECIA – THE PAST – DAY

Pella jogs up to Cale, Richard, Benny, Krunch, and ArchTavor, ruining their attempt to sneak away. 

PELLA
As I was saying-

CALE
What weren’t you saying? Don’t you ever shut up?

PELLA
Nope. So as I was saying, if’n y’all’ve come into possession of the spirit of the Archmage, ‘is commands to take to the City Beneath The City still stand. So, if that be the truth, oi have to insist ye follow me. 

CALE
Oh, it’s the-

Cale stabs at Pella with a fork.

CALE
TRUTH!

Pella sidestep the goateed elfs’ attack. Cale lands flat in the dirt. 

INT. THE CITY BENEATH THE CITY – THE PAST – LATER

Pella leads the group through the ancient tunnels underneath the streets of Kethenecia. She’s still rambling about stone or something, it’s a giant dialogue bubble so full of words that the beginning and end of every sentence is cut off. 

Benny gives Cale a quizzical look. 

CALE
What?

BENNY
If yelling “truth” was supposed to be poignant, I didn’t get it. 

CALE
I was stabbing her with a fork. 

BENNY
You sure were, champ. 

CALE
Remember? The Fork Of Truth? From that one time?

BENNY
…barely. 

CALE
I do not understand how that didn’t catch on. 

BENNY
In what reality would The Fork Of Truth have caught on?

Pella’s still going on about something, maybe shrimp recipes? It’s hard to say. From the darkness through a passageway ahead, an alien voice comes from an unseen speaker, with olive, squiggly speech bubbles. 

VOICE (O-S)
Pella of Clan Breem?

Pella’s caught off guard by the sudden address. 

PELLA
Ai?

VOICE (O-S)
Would you shut up! 

Pella hangs her head, embarrassed. 

VOICE (O-S)
I had this big speech planned about knowing why you have come, not allowing it, and how we’ve been trying to shape the land around us but we’ve learned from our mistake and want to fade into the night. But you ruined it. 

PELLA
Nay, that was still a fine speech. 

VOICE (O-S)
It would have been even better! Now I feel all sassy and annoyed. Can’t even be bothered with a big reveal. 

The speaker steps from the shadows. It’s a dragon person. 

VOICE (O-S)
Ooh, a dragon person. Did the dragons attempt to make humans evolve into fliers backfire? Did dragons evolve into people? Wouldn’t you like to know? Well forget it. I’m in a bad mood. 

The group watches the pissy dragon turn around and head back into the shadows. 

KRUNCH
